What a great first week of school! We have been busy learning routines and making rules in our class. We have talked about the Glendale CARES (Cooperation, Assertion, Responsibility, Empathy, and Self-Control) and made plans for following these expectations. Thank you for sending your child with a water bottle, daily snack, their favorite book, and a family photo.
Please check your child's planner each night to see what their homework is. Read assignments, complete homework, and initial the planner page each day. I will also be checking your child's planner daily. In your child's binder will also be their math homework packet. Math homework started on Friday, September 7th. Please read what math assignment is due in the planner and complete that page(s) in the math packet. Leave the math packet in your child's binder as we will often refer to homework during math lessons. Try not to work ahead in the packet. On Monday, September 10th your child will also have a Reading Challenge Calendar in their binder. These are daily fun reading tasks that your child can do for their nightly reading homework. Also on Monday, your child will have a green folder inside their binder. This will be the "Monday Folder" and will contain all the mail from our classroom and the office that needs to go home. By receiving mail only on Mondays, this should help clear up that "pile" of papers on the kitchen counter!
