This Week...

Our first and second graders had a super week at school!  The 2nd grade Reading MAP test went great.  We completed our first word study sort.  Please see the post below for helpful reminders about activities you can do at home with your child's sort.  This week we also went with our 5th grade buddies to McColl pond to collect different fall leaves.  Next Monday, the 2nd graders will take the unit 1 math test and begin unit 2.  This means that daily math homelinks will start for 2nd grade next week.  1st graders have been doing a great job keeping up with their daily math homelinks, thank you!  2nd graders did a fantastic job on their September reading challenges.  Both grade levels should continue reading the take home books daily.  Please remember to send 2 snacks with your child each day.  We are also in need of more "extra" snacks.  If you would like to donate a box of snacks, please send them to school with your child.  Thank you!  Our class raised a little over $1,700.00 for the Glendale Read-A-Thon!  Our school raised over $28,000; that means Mr. Richardson will have to shave his head!  If your child still has their Read-A-Thon money at home, please send it to school on Monday.  We will wear our Anderson Team Tye-Dye shirts on Wednesday for the Glendale Read-A-Thon.  On Tuesday, students who raised over $30 will be able to register for various prizes.  Prize winners will be announced at the end of the Reading day on Wednesday.  Parent/Teacher conferences are coming up.  You child does not need to come with you to conferences, but if they do that is okay.  We will talk about how they are doing so far and set goals for the year.  Please bring any questions you have, I can't wait to see all of you!
