Our class had a lot of fun learning about the election this year. Our students, both in our class and in Prior Lake/Savage Kids Vote, voted for Romney to be President. We talked about being a good sport even when you don't get your vote. It is important for children to learn that even though they didn't get "what they wanted" when they voted that they need to be respectful to the winner. We talked about how we wish President Obama the best so he can take care of our country.
We also started learning about Veteran's Day this week and will continue next week. The students will be writing to my cousins who are stationed in Afghanistan. Please have the kids wear red, white, and blue on Monday in honor of veterans.
This week marks the end of our first quarter in school. The second graders have worked very hard and their efforts will be reflected in their report cards. For information about report cards, see post below. Students received a new book this week for completing their October Reading Calendars. Thank you for keeping up with homework at home! We will be taking the unit 3 math test on Friday this week, please review with your child Thursday night. I have our Shutterfly photo sharing page up and running. Please let me know if you have not gotten an email from the site. Also please remember to send a bag lunch with your child on Wednesday for our field tirp to the MN Center for Book Arts.
