Happy St. Patty's Day!

 Reading-
This past week we’ve been reading non-fiction books.  The kiddos have learned several different expository text features that help them better understand the text.  For example, table of contents, close-up, and bolded words.   I’ve continued to read in small groups with students.  Next week I will introduce literature circles with the second graders.  The kids will gather together in small groups and discuss the book they are reading.   The purpose of lit circles is for the students to engage in critical thinking and reflect on what they’ve read.  They will start this when we return from spring break.  I’m very excited and I think the kids will enjoy it!
Math-
2nd Grade- We are finishing up our fractions unit.  They will take their unit test next week.   Their review sheet will be coming home soon.
1st grade- Each week I send home flashcards that will help with their minute math.  They should be able to complete their mad math in 2 minutes with minimal errors.  In a couple weeks we will move away from addition and into subtraction.  They will also be taking their unit 7 test next week.

I hope you all have a great weekend and enjoy the weather!
