A Note about Lunch Accounts
As we approach the final 8 days of school, we wanted to send
a reminder about student lunch accounts. When student accounts do not have a
positive balance, students are given a sandwich and milk for lunch. This is not
as appealing as the school lunch offerings and can be frustrating for students.
We are encouraging parents to plan ahead and send enough money in to the school
to cover the remaining days. If you need more information about your students’
lunch accounts, you can use Pay Pams to check your lunch account balance. This
is available on the school website or here: https://paypams.com/HomePage.aspx?1684104191648603Nav=|&NodeID=437
Thank you for supporting your child in these final days of
school for 2012-13!

2nd Graders Get the Beat
Mrs. Collins (Parent of a Glendale Kindergartner and 2nd Grader) came to
school on Wednesday and shared her love of percussion instruments with second
grade classes and her daughter's kindergarten class. She shared drums from a
variety of countries and led a jam session with students. It was fun and very informative. Check out Madison, Jake, and Luke D, in her jam session!

May is Better Speech and Hearing Month
Better Speech and
Hearing Month is a time to raise public awareness, knowledge, and understanding
of the various forms of communication disorders including those of hearing,
speech, language, and voice.
Speech and language
disorders take many forms such as articulation, voice, stuttering, and
receptive and expressive language difficulties. These impairments may be
learning based, acquired, or the result of accidental injury or illness at any
age.
Speech and language
disorders can limit academic achievement and social adjustment within their
educational setting. As a Speech-Language
Pathologist (SLP) I work to prevent, identify and treat various forms of
communication impairments including speech, language, voice, stuttering, hearing,
and related disorders.
To celebrate this
month, students receiving speech and language services at Glendale will be
creating speech graffiti in the main hallway to promote better communication
skills. In addition, my website and/or
blog contains further information about speech and language development, in
addition to, a number of speech and language based activities for children to
interact with at
